Race is real because many still embrace the idea; it continues to be a means by which to identify others. Race isn’t real because there is only one human species and anyone reading this, regardless of skin color, body shape, or origin of country, is a member of it.
Brown, black, white, and its many variations are tones, colors, evident on the skin of people. Observing these differences is more than okay; it’s human, but they don’t exclusively define an individual, his or her experiences, or points of view.
Skin color is a quality that contributes to human identity, but its mere preoccupation may limit the embracing of qualities that more truly make humans, human.
